All I knew is I wanted to do some leopard spots and honeycomb and it became a remix of natural and organic forms and colors in a tangle and all expressed in embroidery.

A few days ago I was reading Salmon Rushdie’s essay in the New York Times about the need for fantasy and wonder. I looked at the piece I was working on and said, “Aha, that’s what this is about.” A little magical realism.
“Only by unleashing the fictionality of fiction, the imaginativeness of the imagination, the dream songs of our dreams, can we hope to approach the new…. the fantastic is neither innocent nor escapist.”
