I’m excited to announce I’m participating in the 100 Day Project for 2017! I’m setting out to explore the cycle of building, destroying, eliminating, and rebuilding found in nature and all material processes. Starting on January 21st, I will create a series of small artworks on paper exploring that theme. I will be posting to my Facebook page and Instagram every day with a new work!
This idea has slowly crept in over time and it seems ripe for a deep exploration. For awhile, I’ve incorporated torn-up paintings into new mixed media pieces. At first, it was a way to salvage the effort of failed experiments.
Now, it is a very comfortable part of my process. I enjoy the way the artistic process mimics nature in the cycle of birth, death, decay, and rebirth. It’s also a metaphor for creative growth. Old ideas have to come apart and let in new life.
Here’s just a taste of what’s to come of the “Regeneration” series that I hope will come out of this effort.
Stay tuned and Happy New Year!
